Hello! My name is Poet James-Hovda, and I am an illustrator and animation student based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I'm currently finishing my degree in 2D Animation and VFX at New Mexico State University, and getting in work and experience while I can. I have always been passionate about art in all its forms, and I try to get my hands on as many creative mediums as I can (my mother still has pictures of all the cabinets I vandalized as a child.) Since studying at university and growing in my skills, that passion has only grown and expanded.
When I'm not doing professional work, I am usually writing, reading, or playing video games. I love getting outdoors and exploring, playing DnD, or visiting with my friends and colleagues. Chances are, if I'm not working on animation and art then I am talking about it zealously with someone. I find that I am always inspired by the world and other media around me, and that is projected in my work. I am especially inspired by works of science fiction, high and dark fantasy, and surreal, abstract concepts.
